On Sunday 23 June, South Holland District Council will be hosting Give it a Go, giving residents of all ages the opportunity to try new sports, dance, exercises and activities for free, and meet clubs and societies from across the district.

The event will take place at Sir Halley Stewart playing field in Spalding, running from 11am - 3pm, and has a wide range of different local groups attending to help promote their activities and attract new members to join them.

Give it a Go showcases activities for everyone, of all ages and abilities, and will give demonstrations, free trials and expert advice from coaches to encourage people to engage in physical activity.

Over 500 people attended the event last year, and activities this time will include a roller skating rink, arts and crafts, football, boxing, martial arts, aerial fitness and much more. There is also space to bring along a picnic and enjoy the outdoors together.

GiaG2Councillor Gary Taylor, portfolio holder for communities and facilities, said: "Give it a Go is always one of the highlights of the summer events in the district, giving people the perfect opportunity to come together and try some exciting new fun and free activities.

"The aim of the day is not only to promote the health benefits of exercise with our residents, but also to introduce them to the great work of local clubs and societies, and build lasting connections for them to take part in activities far into the future."

The event is free and all activities on the day are free. For more information visit the South Holland District Council Communities team Facebook page, SHDC_Communities, or contact them on 01775 761161 or
